I worked at FIYA Inc. Youth Services as a counsellor. FIYA is an organization that helps to affect the several ways which a community view various choices with the youth, impacts their lifestyles and helps them comprehend trends which exist in the youth groups that are dynamic. As a counsellor, I would work with all these teenagers and help them out in case they needed to talk to someone regarding issues they go through in life or on the program. The job description was accurate since after my high school, I took a degree in psychology hence was well equipped for the work.FIYA Inc. Youth Services Assignment Paper
Report a success or positive experience you had during the internship.
One of the most refreshing impacts about my work is because I would work with the youth in areas of their academic success, career development and personal/social realm. I was successful because my goal was to help youngsters go through hard times and become more resilient. To me, this was success because they got better equipped to face rough times (Bozionelos et al, 2016).

Describe a challenge you faced during the internship. How was it resolved, or if it went unresolved, how could it have been resolved professionally?
Some of the challenges included dealing with teenagers who had a dark past and were tormented by their families. Some of these kids would explain their challenges thus some of them sprung up fights at the work making it even harder to relate with others. The challenge came in while making assessments of these youth to prepare them for life (Riggs, & Bartholomaeus, 2015).

How could you have improved your performance of your duties and responsibilities?
I would have ensured that I am a good listener. This helps the youth be open with what they feel and what they want. It is significant to process and listen to the information they give to understand them better.
As a counsellor, I had to be friendly, for the youth to relate and talk to you comfortably, one ought to be warm and approachable to everybody who is around them. Being open and gregarious often means that the youth could trust me more than they put their faith on other folks (Bozionelos et al, 2016).FIYA Inc. Youth Services Assignment Paper

Developmental Theories
These theories offer a set of guiding concepts and principles which explain and describe the development of human. This concept helps me know what takes place throughout the lifespans of the youth hence knowing how to help them better.
Behavioral Theories
It is based on the idea that all habits get acquired through conditioning. The theory helped me understand the behaviors of the youth and help them in their work at FIYA Inc.
Mini-Theories
These describe a very specific and small aspect of growth. It helps explain relatively narrows habits like formation of self-esteem. It also helps me learn the root in the philosophies that get established and how to explain and describe the entire human growth and behavior.

What is the vision and mission of the agency or organization at which you worked? How could this agency or organization improve its performance and better achieve its vision and mission?
The organization has a mission that “Our goal is never to stand and fight. The goal is to cover and evacuate. It’s about being low profile and blending in with the client. If you get in a fight, you’ve already failed.”
The vision statement is, “To provide a safe haven where everyone is valued and all staff, in partnership with parents and families, is committed to doing what it takes for youth to achieve academic success, as guided by state standards.”FIYA Inc. Youth Services Assignment Paper
What were three important things that you learned during this semester’s internship?
As far as Beatrice I.J.M. Van Der Heijden is concerned, there are five scopes that get operationalized, that is, knowledge, meta-cognitive awareness, skills, social recognition and flexibility and growth. With these things I learnt, I also gained knowledge that being an expert does not only require skills and knowledge but many hours of deliberate training so as to gain proficiency.
